The Centre today approved an annual plan outlay of Rs 2,793 crore for Punjab for 2002-03 while projecting its 10th five year plan size at Rs 18,657 crore.
The annual plan was finalised during a meeting of CM Amarinder Singh with Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, K.C. Pant.
Earlier discussing the plan size, Pant asked Amarinder to formulate a plan to check the skewed sex ratio which pointed to rising female foeticide in the state and which could have serious social and political implications.
The plan was finalised after a series of marathon sessions centering over the government’s unrealistic power tarriffs.
The CM tried to put the ball in the Centre’s court by saying Central power agencies were supplying power at huge cost.
