Nurses go on flash strike
Nursing staff in various hospitals of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday went on a flash two-hour strike in three various shifts during the day to support their agitating counterparts in Delhi.

Nurses in the capital have been on their strike since the last eight days.Nearly 150 nurses from eight hospitals including the Yeshwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital participated in the strike.

Malkani elected
Former corporator Jyotika Malkani was on Tuesday elected chairperson of the Seva Vikas Cooperative Bank at Pimpri. Nandlal Lakhwani was elected vice-chairperson.

Health camp
A free camp for all types of diseases of men, women and children will be held in Bharati Hospital in Dhankawadi on May 17. The patients suffering from diabetes, blood pressure, chronic cough, asthma and other diseases will be examined by a panel of experts.

X-ray, sonography, ECG and stress tests will be done at 50 per cent concessional rates. Patients requiring surgery will be operated upon free of cost. Patients will have to bear only medicine cost.

Heart surgery
Babu Shukur Shaikh, a resident of Duttwadi, has sought financial assistance to enable him undergo heart surgery. The operation is estimated to cost Rs. 90,000. Cheques should be issued in favour of the superintendent of Poona Chest Hospital, Aundh, Pune-27.

Scholarship awarded
The English-Speaking Union, Pune, has selected Ravti Dilip Borawake of Symbiosis College of Commerce and Monica Bhatia of Fergusson College, for its scholarship to participate in the international public speaking competition on the theme of All the world8217;s a stage8217;, to be held in London.

The competition is being held from May 12 to 15. Revati and Monica are the only two persons chosen from India for the contest. About 30 nations are expected to participate in the international contest.
