Netting the better half!
Competition has moved to greener pastures for wider reach! Sujata Deodhar switches on the computer and zeroes in on a select website 8211; a matrimonial service no less. Matching-making on the net? If marriages are made in celestial space, they are arranged in cyberspace! And how8217;s that for a turn-of-the-century development?
Deodhar runs a match-making system on the net for worldwide users. And there are others in Pune, who are using the Internet for novel purposes. If some enterprising soul has the creativity, Internet has the space and the inclination. All for better service of the community.
Deodhar8217;s Internet Lifemate is a matrimonial service accessible the world over, but is mostly plugged into by the Marathi-speaking people in the United States of America. If one has an Internet connection at home, it8217;s easy to cruise the website and avail of the service at home. And Fridays and Saturdays see a whole lot of queries from Indians in USA when they have some free time. The fledgling service instituted after much preparations three months ago, has got everyone really curious and evoked a great response.
8220;Although one or two proposals are fed everyday, we have not managed to get anyone married so far. You know, it is so difficult to find suitable matches for the super-qualified girls,8221; rues Deodhar, who has worked with the famed Marathi magazine Rohini for 18 years as assistant editor and knows the market through and through. Incidentally, Rohini also occupies space on the Internet with its brand of matrimonial advertising and computer match-making.
Direct hit
The India Properties directory, giving a comprehensive list of all the prime properties for sale in Mumbai/Pune has proved to be a big hit, barely a year after its launch. Peak Publications Ltd run by Shaheen Saeed, compiled the directory for the NRIs staying in the Gulf. 8220;The directory has been a runaway success thanks to the support from Raheja8217;s, Kalpatarus,
Hiranadanis, HDFC and CIDCO. We are bringing out a second edition in May, and this time it will include the properties in Bangalore,8221; says Saeed.
The previous edition was distributed free to consulates abroad last year. However, in India, the coming edition will be available for a nominal price. The directory has a comprehensive editorial section, in which information on how to choose properties, taxation laws and other matters related to properties is given in some detail. The properties list in the directory includes all the facts about the property 8211; location, size, estimated cost, builders and develops, amenities8230; The excellent provision of the directory is beneficial for builders and buyers, feels Saeed, who plans to update the directory every six months.
Stand by me
It was indeed a gripping fare! Witness, a courtroom drama, was staged at the Nehru Memorial Hall on Sunday and organised by the Care India Medical Society SATSEVA. Accused of murdering her mother-in-law, the protagonist awaits the verdict as her husband, his father and sister testify against her. When it8217;s time for her to speak up, she discloses that she was the targetted victim. It was only because she ducked at the right moment that the burning stove thrown by her husband hit her mother-in-law.
Unfortunately, her words are the only proof. On the verge of being convicted, her sister-in-law stands up for her 8211; a woman-for-a-woman 8211; and bares the truth, resulting in her acquittal. Excellent acting which saw the crew take the stage for an encore made the viewing a pleasurable experience for all gathered.
