Teenager foils abduction attempt
Showing extraordinary presence of mind, the 17-year-old son of a Cantonment jeweller here foiled an attempt by three unidentified persons to kidnap him on Thursday night.

The abductors were forced to flee when their victim, Kaushik V. Jain, raised an alarm, the police said.

Kaushik, the son of the owner of Vipul Jewellers, studies in IX standard. He was all by himself at his house when the abduction bid took place.

The three men, who claimed that they had come from Mumbai to meet his father Vinod, requested the boy to escort them to their jeep after he told them that Vinod had gone out.

The kidnappers tried to drag Kaushik into the waiting jeep. However, Kaushik started shouting for help. The men fled when the neighbours rushed to the spot responding to the cries for help, the police said.

Kaushik then approached the Cantonment police to lodged a complaint. The police have launched a manhunt to track down the culprits.
