Noted litterateur Baba Patil dead
Kolhapur: Noted short story writer Baba Patil died here of old age on Tuesday night. He was 72 and was unmarried.
Contemporary of eminent writers like Shankar Patil and Vyankatesh Madgulkar, two short story collections Ekur and Vat hi chalavi by Patil received acclaim. He won a State Government award for Vat hi chalavi. Patil wrote two other books, Jungalanchi hak, which won him a Central Government award, and Mrityuchya Magarmithit which centres around the achievements of the Indian National Army of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Born in a family owing allegiance to Warkari Sampradaya, Patil was an active worker of Rashtra Seva Dal. He participated in the `Bhoodan’ movement started by Acharya Vinoba Bhave. He also edited Dharati a magazine along with eminent poet Roy Kinikar. He was also felicitated by Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad a few years ago.
