Chatuhshrungi police on Saturday arrested Nitin Jadhav, a notorious criminal associated with Arun Gawli gang, at Aundh.

The police had received a tip-off that Jadhav, who is involved in offences including rioting and extortion, and his Russian wife had been staying in one of the flats in Marutrao Gaikwadnagar locality of Aundh for past couple of months. They were also informed that he was going to call up his wife who had recently gone to Russia from a telephone booth in the locality. Acting on the information, a trap was laid at Gaikwadnagar by police inspector Vilas Jadhav. Nitin Jadhav was arrested when he walked into the telephone booth.

During interrogation, Jadhav disclosed to police that he and his associates had murdered Anil Maralkar, a criminal associated with Munna Shaikh gang, in December 1994.

Jadhav told the police that in December 1994, he kidnapped Maralkar from Kalewadi and murdered him. Later, Maralkar8217;s body was dumped in an iron box and thrown under the bridge at Kamthadi village near Bhor, disclosed Jadhav during interrogations.

According to the police, Maralkar8217;s murder was a fallout of rivalry between Munna Shaikh gang and Nitin Jadhav gang. Fearing an attempt on his life by Maralkar, Jadhav decided to kill him and accordingly a plan was hatched. The police interrogations revealed that Jadhav killed Maralkar along with three of his associates.

B Com results
The results of second year and third year B Com degree examination conducted by the University of Pune will be declared this week along with those of the Master in Education M Ed examination.

The results of first year BA and B Sc degree courses will be declared after June 20, said Dr Santosh Dastane, Controller of Examinations, University of Pune, recently.

So far the results of first year B Com and the law faculty barring LLM have been declared. Dastane revealed that revaluation of results of examinations held in October 8217;97 were completed.
