Today8217;s evening showers had a positive effect on the weather, bringing down the mercury which touched a high of 40.1 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.Besides having a cooling influence on the temperature, the showers also increased the humidity level in the atmosphere. The relative humidity, which was recorded at 29 per cent at 5.30 pm rose to 88 per cent after the thundershowers in the evening.
Puneites who had been disappointed by the absence of pre-monsoon thundershowers for the last few days, were in for a jubilation of sorts as most people poured out onto the streets to enjoy the first major shower of the season.
