Slapped to death
Bhausaheb Chavan, a 20-year-old eatery owner from Chinchwad, was arrested on culpable homicide not amounting to murder charges after he slapped a customer and caused his death last night.

The police said Bhausaheb, who runs an eatery near Chinchwad railway station, slapped his customer Sanjay Bote after Bote failed to pay his bill.

Sanjay, who fell on the ground, was shifted to a nearby hospital by his friend where he was proclaimed dead on arrival. Chavan was arrested after Sanjay8217;s friend Gangaram Pawar lodged a First Information Report at Pimpri police station.

Demolished
The anti-encroachment squad of the Pune Municipal Corporation today pulled the unauthorised construction and sheds at Hotel Deccan Park on Fergusson College Road. The squad demolished a shed, admeasuring about 1000 square feet and also a wall in parking space, which was used as the restaurant. Besides, a shed on terrace, admeasuring 40 square feet was also demolished by the squad.

Robbed
Uddhav Sadhu Borate, a 40-year-old Maharashtra State Electricity Board MSEB staffer, was attacked and robbed by four unidentified persons wielding sticks near Borate Vasti on Pune-Nashik road yesterday. Police said Borate, who resides at Moshi village, was returning home when the incident took place. Borate, who works with the MSEB, also owns a farm at Moshi.

Borate was returning home after selling the carrots produced at his farm at the Pimpri Market Yard when the unidentified men intercepted him. Borate claimed in a First Information Report FIR lodged at the Bhosari police station that the unidentified men thrashed him up before snatching Rs 4,50 from him.

Abductor held
Ramesh Ganpat Jagdhane 23 of Kishkindha Nagar slums on Paud road has been arrested by Kothrud police on charges of abducting a teen-aged relative. Police said Jagdhane and his wife Asha abducted the teen aged-girl from her residence on Baner Road because Jagdhane wanted to get married with her.

More thefts
Booty estimated to be worth over Rs 63,000 was stolen in two separate burglaries in Pune on Wednesday. A colour television was found stolen from Lokmanya Bhavan hall of Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth yesterday. Harish Shinde of Somwar Peth was relieved of his briefcase containing Rs 50,000 while travelling from Indapur to Pune in a ST bus.
