Taps to run dry on FridayThere will be no water supply to various parts of the city on Friday owing to urgent repairs at the Parvati water works, an official statement issued on Tuesday stated.The old city (all peths), Duttawadi, Rajendranagar, Sinhagad Road, Shivajinagar gaonthan, Apte road, Shankarsheth road, Ekbote colony, Bhawani Peth, Khadakmalali, Tilak road, Swargate police line, Mukundnagar, Bibvewadi, Sahkarnagar, Gultekdi, Marketyard, Katraj, Dhankawadi, Hingne, Karvenagar, Erandwane and Kothrud areas will not receive water on Friday.Also the areas like Katraj, Karvenagar, Aundh, Dapodi, Bopodi, Pashan and Khadki will not receive water. The normal water supply will be resumed by Saturday evening. The PMC is also laying a 1200 mm pipeline from Parvati water works to SNDT reservoir. The Sinhagad road crossing will be done phasewise for laying the pipeline. The digging work will begin on January 22 and will be completed by January 31.Meanwhile, the PMC as part of laying a new RCC drainage line from Alka theatre chowk to Poona Hospital (Ward number 118) has urged citizens to bear with the civic body as nearly 10-12 feet deep trench will have to be dug leading to traffic congestion.
