
CHANDIGARH, May 12: Punjab Tractors Limited PTL today announced a dividend of 250 per cent as against 125 per cent paid last financial year.
While approving the new dividend, the company today presented the audited financial results ending March 31, 1999. According to a statement issued by the company, earning per share has moved to Rs 62.1 against last year8217;s Rs 47.7. Total revenue has touched Rs 963.2 crore with net earnings of Rs 125.8 crore.
According to company sources, this was achieved on the basis of good volume performance in tractors which rose by 19.6 per cent and harvester combines which recorded a hike of 45.8 per cent. Swaraj tractor has also raised its market share to 18.4 per cent against 15.9 per cent in 1997-98.
The company has sown a cash profit of Rs 190.5 crore which has increased by 33 per cent over previous year and a profit before tax of Rs 176.8 crore. In a press statement the company Managing Director, Yash Mahajan stated that while they recorded a hike in tractor volumes by 19.6 per cent, the tractor market grew by only three per cent.
