
NEW DELHI, Nov 24: The government has revised the 1997-98 target for disinvestment in select public sector undertakings to Rs 7,000 crore in order to raise additional resources during the year, industry minister Murasoli Maran said today.
The initial target set of resources to be generated by the government through disinvestment for the year was Rs 4,800 crore.
In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Maran said the amounts realised through disinvestment in 1994-95, 1995-96 and 1996-97 were Rs 4,843 crore, Rs 168 crore and Rs 379 crore respectively against targets of Rs 4,000 crore, Rs 7,000 crore and Rs 5,000 crore respectively.
