Prom 8211; that most unique of American ways to end school 8212; has been the backdrop for many a Hollywood film. So, why not a prom horror, particularly as the film concerns a deranged teacher, crazy for a student?
No problem, except that this deranged teacher, who has just escaped from an asylum for the criminally insane, has this unique ability to stab at close quarters without having a shoe tip bloodied. No problem, except that while Richard Fenton Schaech is after Donna Snow, he goes about it for one-and-a-half hours without really doing anything except killing almost everybody who so much as looks in his direction. No problem, except that there is a method to even madness and there seems to be none to Fenton8217;s. No problem, except that Donna and her smitten boyfriend Bobby Porter exchange so many hand-in-hand, eye-in-eye heart-to-heart inanities that it8217;s no wonder somebody interrupted, even if with a knife in hand. Sad though, for just for a moment there, these teenagers 8212; less quiet, cocky and flashy than we have come to know them, though booked for the night, a couple each, in hotel suites 8212; are almost likable.
