Probe into self-immolation

The Uttaranchal government has constituted a committee to probe the death of Bhunesh Bisht, a student leader who immolated himself on the campus of MB College in Haldwani.

Uttaranchal Information and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Indira Hridayesh said the committee will submit its report within a month.

According to Hridayesh, Bhunesh had planned a symbolic immolation and had decided to use kerosene mixed with water. But the bottle found after the incident contained raw petrol. 8216;8216;This shows somebody wanted him to get fully burnt and politicise his death.8221; Incidentally, Bhunesh8217;s father has said his son acted of his own will.
