The US has said it continues to 8220;encourage8221; Pakistan to investigate the Mumbai terrorist attacks and expects that Islamabad would bring the perpetrators to justice.
8220;We certainly have encouraged and continue to encourage Pakistan to fully investigate the Mumbai attacks,and even more importantly,bring those responsible before their judicial system,8221; the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs,P J Crowley,said.
When asked about last weeks meeting between the Indian Minister of External Affairs,S M Krishna,and his Pakistani counterpart Makhdoom Qureshi,Crowley said: 8220;I think we certainly encourage a dialogue between India and Pakistan,two very important countries to the United States.8221;
Crowley said the Obama Administration understands clearly the importance of Afghanistan,the importance of Pakistan,the importance of India,and the interaction among those countries.
8220;We have a strategic relationship that is emerging with India. We have a vitally important relationship with Pakistan,are working hard to help Pakistan address the issue of extremism within its borders,and we are likewise very concerned about the cross-border activity between Pakistan and Afghanistan,8221; he said.
