Train hits 2 buses in Bangladesh; 7 dead,35 hurt

He said dozens of people were being treated for injuries,but did not specify an exact number.

A speeding train plowed into two buses at a busy crossing in Bangladesh8217;s capital today,killing at least seven people and injuring dozens,a police official said.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police official Mohammad Moniruzzaman said the accident occurred as the train was travelling to Dhaka8217;s main Kamlapur Station from the nearby town of Narayanganj.

He said dozens of people were being treated for injuries,but did not specify an exact number.

A news television station reported that at least 35 people were injured. It said the crossing bar had not been lowered at the intersection.

Train accidents are common in Bangladesh because of rundown tracks and poor signalling systems.
