CAPE TOWN: Netherlands midfielder Demy de Zeeuw was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw after the semi-final against Uruguay. However,an examination showed only loose teeth and he was able to return shortly afterwards to join the rest of the celebrating Dutch squad,a team spokeswoman said. De Zeeuw got an accidental kick in the jaw from Uruguays left back Martin Caceres.

CAPE TOWN: The British tabloid journalist arrested after a fan appeared in the England teams dressing room following a World Cup game will face trial this weekend. Simon Wright of the Sunday Mirror faces charges of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and breaching the Immigration Act.
Grand closing ceremony
JOHANNESBURG: World Cup organizers promise a high-tech closing ceremony featuring pop star Shakira,compared to the more traditionally African ceremony which opened the tournament. Organizing committee spokesman Jermaine Craig says Sundays show at Soccer City will be more youthful and a bit more technologically advanced than the June 11 opening ceremony. Craig says the nighttime event has nice lighting effects and special effects planned. The closing ceremony is scheduled to start two hours before the final.
