Dr Adlakha faces a GMC hearing charged with irresponsible, inappropriate and dishonest misconduct.

Since being suspended more than four years ago,Adlakha has cost taxpayers 600,000 pounds, including her salary and payments for two locum doctors.

She and her daughter were charged with conspiracy to commit child destruction abroad in 2005,but the case was dropped in 2007. She was suspended by the GMC in February 2005 over allegations of misconduct.

Adlakha told her practice receptionist that she could lose her license for helping her daughter arrange the abortion after returning from Spain, the tribunal heard.
