Despite not being able to live up to his big-hitting reputation,Brendon McCullum has got a vote of confidence from the man who knows him better than anyone else,Andy Moles, the New Zealand coach. Moles, who is attached to the Kolkata Knight Riders,is not unduly worried about the sudden loss of form of his key batsman. It is just a confidence thing. He is a very proud player, combative, who likes to meet things upfront. He needs to spend a little time in the middle, said Moles.

Dont single out Buchanan

Kolkata: Former Australian captain Steve Waugh feels it is wrong to blame John Buchanan alone for Kolkata Knight Riders performance,or rather the lack of it,in IPL 2. On a two-day visit to Kolkata,Waugh dropped in at Udayan,a home for children of leprosy patients. Its not fair to single out Buchanan. A cricket team is a collective responsibility. When a team is in crisis its everybodys responsibility to pull it out of the rut. KKR is not doing well, but they must keep on fighting. They can turn the corner if they stay united in their fight, Waugh said. He also believes Sourav Ganguly with whom he hardly shared a cordial relationship will return to form. Sourav is a tough cookie,a fighter. He is very resilient and will play his part in this IPL. He will get back to form soon.

Gambhir the finisher

Durban: Stand-in Delhi Daredevils captain Gautam Gambhir said he had to curb his usual aggressiveness and drop anchor against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday evening as he did not want to repeat his sides failure to finish off in their last IPL game. Last time around, two set batsmen failed to finish off against Chennai. We had a lot of talk in the team to not repeat that situation. I had to take responsibility and finish the match, said Gambhir. Kolkata were at the bottom and we thought we had a chance to beat them and top the table which would give us a better chance to make it to semi-finals, Gambhir, who led the side in place of Sehwag, said.
