Veerdhawal Khade bettered two meet records as India clinched four gold and five silver medals on the second day of the aquatics events at the South Asian Games on Saturday.
In 50m butterfly,Khade clocked 25.54 to better his own record of 25.97,created in the Colombo Games four years ago. Arjun Muralidharan earned India the silver with 26.15s. In 50m freestyle,a timing of 23.73 by Khade bettered the previous record held by Sebastian Xavier 23.89. Aaron DSouza finished second 24.42.
Richa Mishra 1:05.74 won India the fourth gold in womens 100m butterfly,while Vandita Dhariyal 1:08.40 took silver.
In 400m freestyle,GVA Puttaveerswami clocked 4:04.85s for the third record. Mandar Divase 4:07.41 bagged the silver. Balkrishnan Badrinath 59.08 settled for silver in 100m backstroke.
Meanwhile,the shooters clinched both the gold up for grabs in 50m three position. Tejaswini Muley,15,was the star performer,clinching the solo gold and contributing in the team one. The shooters took their tally to 17 gold,nine silver and four bronze.
