If Sachin8217;s record is not broken,human race will fall behind

Sachin Tendulkar8217;s feat of 100 international centuries might seem impossible to scale,but former India skipper Kapil Dev today said the 8220;human race would fall behind8221; if the record is not broken in times to come.

Giving example of Sunil Gavaskar8217;s 8220;seemingly unconquerable8221; 34 Test centuries before it was eclipsed by Tendulkar,Kapil said,8221;In our time we used to think,can anybody ever go past Sunil Gavaskar?8221;

8220;But it happened,it8217;s happening and it will happen for sure. Records are meant to be broken. Sachin has achieved such a big milestone,if nobody breaks it then the human race will fall behind. We are waiting for the day when somebody will come and break Sachin8217;s record,8221; India8217;s first World Cup winning skipper said.

Addressing a gathering of students,who cracked medical and engineering entrance exam,Kapil said being talented is not enough and it8217;s important to plan one8217;s career.

Citing the example of Vinod Kambli,Kapil 8220;When I was about to stop playing cricket,two players came into the limelight,one was Sachin Tendulkar and the other was Vinod Kambli. Media heralded them as the best to have played for the country.8221;

8220;Kambli did not have discipline. He did not have the roadmap for himself as to what he wanted to achieve. Sometimes,you have the talent but if you don8217;t understand yourself,you can8217;t become Sachin Tendulkar. You have to have a role model. But that is not the end as you have to go beyond your role models,8221; Kapil pointed.

The former cricketer urged the parents to support their kids in their endeavour and hailed the partnership between the children and their parents as the important one.

8220;The parents play an important role. It8217;s the partnership with your kids,the understanding with them that8217;s very important. Today my daughter is my best friend. She is much more wiser than me in terms of technology. So I also respect her,8221; he insisted.
