Hats off: Yuvraj does it again

Having to play again just 16 hours after clinching a nerve-wracking victory against Kolkata...

Final score

Kings XI Punjab134-7 in 20 oversbeat Deccan Chargers 133-8 in 20 overs by one run

Paltry target

Having to play again just 16 hours after clinching a nerve-wracking victory against Kolkata,Deccan Chargers would have been looking forward to a hasty affair on Sunday. And Punjab did them a favour by setting up a paltry target of 135.

But by the time Yuvraj Singh astonishingly picked up his second hat-trick of IPL2 even though he didnt seem to realise it initially Rohit Sharma found himself in an identical position to Saturday night, having to power his team home with a late blitz.

Going into the final over,Hyderabad required 11 runs, with Rohit having taken Brett Lee for 18 runs in the 19th over. Irfan Pathan was hit for six runs off his first two deliveries, and it seemed like Yuvrajs second hat-trick would also end up in a losing cause, with Hyderabad requiring just four from four balls.

But Irfan clean-bowled Sharma, who scored a 26-ball 42,including three sixes, and then dismissed RP Singh for a duck to leave Ryan Harris with four to score off the final ball. The tail-ender only managed a couple,as Punjab pulled off a thrilling one-run victory and kept their hopes alive in the tournament.

Sanga does it again

Earlier,Punjab got off to a poor start, losing Sunny Sohal,Simon Katich and Luke Pomersbach with just 26 runs on the board. And when Venugopal Rao went through Yuvrajs defences,a total collapse looked very well on the cards.

Kumar Sangakkara, though, came to Punjabs rescue yet again with a 43-ball 56,sharing a 53-run stand with Wilkin Mota.

Powar-packed

Adam Gilchrist started off in usual fashion with a series of boundaries, but seemed in too much off a hurry as he stepped out to Ramesh Powars second delivery, and was stumped for a 13-ball 23. Powar then bowled Suman off the next delivery, but couldnt manage a hat-trick as Andrew Symonds hit him for a boundary. The Hyderabad innings then trundled along steadily, before Yuvraj got into the act.

Forget them not

amp;149; RP Singh regained his spot at the top of the wicket-takers tally, finishing with figures of three for 26.

amp;149; Irfan hit a quickfire 17 before keeping his nerve in the final over, returning with figures of 2-29.
