Days after getting his name cleared in the IPL-spot fixing scandal,Mumbai left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh has been called up by Rajasthan Royals to attend their camp ahead of the Champions League T20. With Siddarth Trivedi getting a one-year ban,Rajasthan seemed to have picked Harmeet as his replacement in their squad. However,RR chief executive officer Raghu Iyer told The Indian Express that the spinner had only been called up for the nets and that they hadnt named an official replacement yet. We havent finalized who our replacement will be but we have called Harmeet for practice, Iyer said. Harmeet left Mumbai on Monday evening to join his Royals teammates,who are scheduled to take on Mumbai Indians in their first game at Jaipurs Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Before getting his call-up,Harmeet had planning to fly to Malaysia to play league cricket. The Mumbai Cricket Association,meanwhile,has given their green signal to Harmeet to take part in their local tournaments.
It is important for me to play and BCCI giving me a clean chit it has come as a big relief. I want to play more matches to get back in form. My main aim is to play for Mumbai again, Harmeet said.
