One of Nelson Mandelas daughters has stopped by Brazils training camp to meet the team preparing for this months World Cup. Zenani Mandela met with coach Dunga and received a Brazilian jersey as a gift. The Brazilian football confederation says Tuesdays meeting was a retribution to Dungas visit to Nelson Mandela earlier this year.

Brothers in arms

Tottenham midfielder Giovani Dos Santos is considering quitting Mexicos World Cup squad following the omission of his brother Jonathan from the 23 member team. Gio is very hurt and he wants to be at home with us, said the players father Gerardo dos Santos better know as Zizinho. Jonathan told me hes going to quit the team.

Multiplex cinemas there will broadcast South Koreas matches live in the format made popular by the film Avatar in an attempt to lure supporters away from their televisions at home. Around 100 cinema screens across the country will be used.

The Middlesbrough forward missed Saturdays shock 1-0 victory over Serbia in a pre-tournament warm-up to get married,but has since rejoined the squad. It was a great day and obviously it would have been nice to go straight on a honeymoon afterwards, said Killen.The missus would have been a bit happy with that but she knows its important.

Mission Impossible

Hollywood film star Tom Cruise believes footballer David Beckham will play in the 2014 World Cup for England,despite the fact he would be almost 40 if he did. Beckham,35,was ruled out of the upcoming World Cup after sustaining an Achilles tendon injury. Cruise told The Sun: I wish he was playing in the World Cup this year but he will be back for the next one you know.

AS the English Football Associations FA website crashed under the weight of visitors desperate for confirmation of the teams final World Cup squad,many already knew the news,thanks to Twitter. According to the Irish Independent newspaper,The Daily Expresss Matt Law was one of the first to break news of Theo Walcotts omission. Walcott out of England World Cup squad, he tweeted. Gutted for him.
