A day after Indian football skipper Bhaichung Bhutia urged the AIFF to settle his row with Mohun Bagan,the national football body in its emergency committee meeting,entrusted general secretary Alberto Colaco with the authority for a final call.
Terming the showcause notice served to Bhutia being made public as unfortunate, AIFF acting president Praful Patel said Colaco would arrive at a decision after consulting both Bagan and Bhutia.
We have asked Colaco to intervene in the matter and find a solution by sitting together with Bhutia and Mohun Bagan, Patel said. Bhutia is the national captain and an icon player. Its unfortunate that the whole issue was made public, Patel added.
AIFFs emergency committee ,expected to shortlist five candidates each for the post of general secretary and I-League CEO and will meet on Thursday again.
So far three applicantsGoa Football Association secretary Messias and former Vision India project director Shaji Prabhakaran and former chief executive of Scottish club Motherwell FC Ian Stilliefor the post of the general secretary while former Mahindra United coach Harish Rao,AIFF competitions director Anil Kamat and Sunando Dhar made the cut for I-League CEO.
Taking serious note of the women teams ouster from the FIFA rankings due to no international participation for 18 months,the AIFF decided to form an ad-hoc committee and also sanctioned 1,20,000 for youth-level coaches and assistant technical directors across five zones in the country.
