Manhattan8217;s top federal prosecutor Preet Bharara got a special shout-out from American music legend Bruce Springsteen,who dedicated a song to the India-born attorney at a concert last week.
During a performance in Connecticut,Springsteen,who is known as 8216;the Boss8217; shouted 8220;This one8217;s for Preet Bharara8221; before singing 8216;Death to My Hometown,8217; a composition about the effects of the economic crisis.
A huge fan of Springsteen,Bharara was sitting in the audience at the concert with his young son.
8220;All I could think was,my son for the first time thought his dad was really cool,8221; the New York Daily News quoted Bharara as saying.
The Springsteen shout-out came a day after Bharara8217;s office recorded another victory in the crackdown against insider trading on Wall Street with former Goldman Sachs director Rajat Gupta getting a two-year prison term.
Bharara has been to 25 Springsteen concerts over the last decade.
Bharara said he could not share any other memory of the concert as 8220;it8217;s all a blur to me because I lost all my memory when he said my name.8221;
Meanwhile,Bharara,who had no power at his home in Westchester County in the wake of the storm Sandy extended his sympathy to the storm8217;s victims.
8220;In the wake of such devastation,it8217;s heartening to see people come together to,as Bruce would say,take care of our own,8221; Bharara said. 8220;That8217;s what good people always do.8221;
