Graeme Swann says he and some of his teammates urinated on the field at the Oval as they celebrated victory over Australia in the Ashes late into the night. England players sat on the grass wicket drinking beer while Australian journalists,working late on Sunday,spotted the celebrations and reported on the incident.

Swann says “I think the call of nature might have come once or twice but it was nothing untoward.” Cricket authorities have declined to say if they are investigating but former Australia star Shane Warne says the England players behaved in an arrogant way. Warne says “it’s a real shame they let themselves down so badly.” ECB is investigating the incident.

Batting cost Australia Ashes: McGrath

Glenn McGrath says the current test team’s inability to settle on a stable batting lineup has proved to be its downfall in the just completed Ashes series,won 3-0 by England. “Our bowlers have done well but we have struggled to find the right batting combination,” McGrath said. “We have changed a few things around this last test,so hopefully we will improve but Australia has been well and truly beaten.” Australia frequently changed its top order throughout the five-match series that ended Sunday,with Chris Rogers,David Warner and Shane Watson opening at different points of the series.

Bangladesh players deny fixing charges

Two Bangladeshi cricketers declared their innocence after confirming they were among those charged with match-fixing following a probe earlier this month by the sport’s world body. Paceman Mahbubul Alam and left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain said they would defend themselves against charges of fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL),a scandal that has already brought down teammate and national hero Mohammad Ashraful. “I am innocent,I was not involved in any kind of corruption,” said Alam”I have appointed a lawyer to represent me in the (upcoming) disciplinary panel hearing,” Alam said.

Many urn-retainers rested for ODI series

England have rested several of their Ashes-winning Test side,including captain Alastair Cook,from the squad announced for their ODIs against Ireland and Australia. England have left out Stuart Broad,Ian Bell,James Anderson and Graeme Swann for the lone ODI against Ireland and the five-match one-day series with Australia that follows. Kevin Pietersen though,has been included in the squad for the Australia series,with fellow Joe Root and Jonathan Trott. Eoin Morgan will captain the side with a squad with five uncapped players in Michael Carberry,Gary Balance,Chris Jordan and Jamie Overton as well as Boyd Rankin.

UP in Buchi Babu final after four wicket win

UP produced an all-round performance to post a four-wicket win over Kerala and make the final of the Buchi Babu cricket tournament. The move by captain Mohd. Kaif to put Kerala in yielded result as Saurabh Kumar 6/45 and Kuldeep Yadav 3/66 ripped through the rival batting line-up. Kerala wilted against these two to be all out 188 in 56.1 overs. UP batsmen were up to the task to win the match by scoring 192/6 in 46.5 overs.
