Benson may retire in protest

Adelaide: Umpire Mark Benson is planning to retire with immediate effect following his sudden withdrawal from the Adelaide Test. The Sunday Times reported that Benson was upset over incidents involving the review system on the first day of the second Test between Australia and West Indies,one of which led to his decision being overturned by third umpire Asad Rauf.

Gambhir follows his favourite

Mumbai: After receiving the best cricketer of the year award,Gautam Gambhir said that he was very happy to receive it in the year after his favourite player Virender Sehwag got it. 8220;Last year Sehwag said that he was happy to receive it after his favourite player Sachin had got it. Now I am happy to receive it after my favourite player Sehwag,8221; he said. Meanwhile,Mohinder Amarnath was awarded the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mumbai: Virender Sehwag said it was Sourav Ganguly who instilled confidence in him. 8220;I shall always be grateful to Sourav. He was the one who brought me up from the middle-order to open the innings. He told me that if I don8217;t perform as an opener then I will be shifted to the middle-order,8221; Sehwag said.
