mumbai: Virender Sehwag today said he is not yet close to his peak fitness and want to spend one more week at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehabilitation. I am still not close to peak fitness and am training at NCA,Bangalore. I will spend one more week there. I am looking forward to the England tour, the 32-year old batsman said

We can beat England

dubai: England are currently playing good cricket but India has the wherewithal to beat them in their own den in the upcoming tour,reckons Indias middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh. England is one of the best teams but weve been maintaining the number-one ranking for two years and we won in England last time,and Im sure if we play to our best potential we can win again. England are playing really good cricket, Yuvraj said.

Shiv surpasses Walsh

dominica: After becoming the most capped player in Test cricket for the West Indies,Shivnarine Chanderpaul said he never dreamt of reaching the milestone. Chanderpaul surpassed fast bowling great Courtney Walsh,who played 132 matches,during the third Test against India which began yesterday. I have two major goals now: to help the West Indies team start winning again and to pass on some of my knowledge to the young players to help them take West Indies cricket forward, he said.

Two-horse MCA race

mumbai: Former India captain and chairman of national selection committee Dilip Vengsarkar filed his nomination for the presidents post in the upcoming Mumbai Cricket Associations elections,setting the stage for a straight fight for the coveted post with union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Vengsarkar has completed two terms as the vice-president of the MCA representing Dadar Union cricket club. I am confident of winning, said Vengsarkar while filing his nomination.

Misbah backs DRS

lahore: Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has backed the ICCs decision to enforce the Decision Review System in Tests and ODIs,saying the innovation reduces pressure on on-field umpires. From my personal experience,I have found the system very useful and basically it gives the batting and fielding side a second chance if the umpires have a bad day or decision, Misbah said . He added that he found the system very good for teams during the World Cup and even before it.

Imran denies Bhutto affair

islamabad: A new biography of Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan denied suggestions that he was romantically involved with slain former premier Benazir Bhutto. One of my cousins was interested in her Bhutto and she also took an interest when I introduced them to each other, Khan told his biographer.
