Bad news on the shoulder,torn a muscle: Broad

The pacer was given painkillers and was ready to bat at number 11 if needed during England's chase.

England on Monday suffered a blow after Twenty20 skipper and pacer Stuart Broad said that there is 8220;bad news8221; about the extent of the injury he picked up during the fourth one-dayer against India as he has 8220;torn a muscle8221;.

England are scheduled to play two T20 matches against the West Indies after the India series and if Broad8217;s injury is serious,it appears the England and Wales Cricket Board ECB will have to find a new captain. While the ECB confirmed that a full statement would be released in due course,Broad tweeted,8221;Bad news on the shoulder,torn a muscle.8221;

Broad could not complete his quota of overs in the fourth ODI against India at Lord8217;s yesterday after he suffered a shoulder injury while bowling his final over.

The pacer was given painkillers and was ready to bat at number 11 if needed during England8217;s chase,which ended with seven balls to still go due to rain. With Morgan,England8217;s T20 vice-captain,too ruled out due to a shoulder injury there is no obvious replacement for Broad as captain.

Another cause for concern is that Broad could also miss the five-match ODI tour of India next month. Broad bowled well at Lord8217;s yesterday,picking up the wickets of openers Parthiv Patel and Ajinkya Rahane in his first two overs.

It has been an injury-hit last 10 months for Broad,who was ruled out of the final three Ashes Tests last winter due to stomach strain,before picking up a rib injury during the World Cup that forced him to return home.
