CALCUTTA, MARCH 5: Local hero Ramnath Prasad fired five birdies on his way back to come up with the best card of four-under 66 on the second day of the Rs 6 lakh Classic Eastern Open golf tournament at the Tollygunge Club today.

But Shiv Prakash Kanpur and Vijay Kumar Lucknow led the field with an aggregate of five-under 135 after the cut was applied at 15-over 155.

Overnight leader Arjun Atwal was bogged down by a series of bogies from the second to the fifth. But he recovered to finish at one-over to aggregate four-under 136 and is now second.

Scores after 36 holes: 135 Vijay Kumar 67, 68, Shiv Prakash 68, 67; 136 Arjun Atwal 65, 71; 138 Basad Ali 69, 69.

Randhawa joint third: Jyoti Randhawa carded two under par while Thailand8217;s Boonchu Ruangkit made a strong start in his bid to win his third successive Lodon Myanmar Open golf title, firing a superb five under par 67 in the opening round in Bagan, Myanmar. Arjun Singh, Vivek Bhandari and Firoz Ali, all carded identical oneunder par 71 and were joint fourth.
