Pradip Todi’s bail plea rejected

The City Sessions Court on Friday rejected the bail petition of Pradip Todi — the brother of businessman Ashok Todi and one of the accused in the Rizwanur Rehman death case.

The City Sessions Court on Friday rejected the bail petition of Pradip Todi — the brother of businessman Ashok Todi and one of the accused in the Rizwanur Rehman death case.

Chief Judge of the court Murari Mohan Ghosh, rejected the bail plea of Pradip which he had filed on Thursday.

In another related development, the CBI court remanded Ashok Todi, Pradip Todi, Anil Saraogi and Pappu in jail custody till December 17. The three police officers —— former DC (DD) Ajay Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Sukanti Chakraborty and Sub-Inspector Krishnendu Das —— also appeared at the CBI court in compliance with an earlier order passed by it. After the hearing, CBI court magistrate Madhumita Roy asked them to appear again on December 17.

Meanwhile, police arrested two associates of the Todis, Vikram Mehta and Vivek Agarwal, from the Bankshall court premises after a scuffle ensued between them and mediapersons.

At Calcutta High Court, Justice D P Sengupta heard the arguments on the bail petition of Ashok Todi and fixed Tuesday as the date of the next hearing.
