
Members of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings CICU on Thursday held a meeting with H.S. Brar, member, distribution, Punjab State Electricity Board. Brar was apprised of the problems being faced by the industrialists due to scheduled and unscheduled power cuts.
As per the members of CICU, Brar informed the deputation that there being outage of one unit each of Ropar thermal plant and Lehra Mohabbat thermal plant, the board had to resort to power cuts. He told the deputation that the Lehra Mohabbat unit was likely to be recommissioned today or tomorrow and the Ropar Thermal unit will start functioning by December 31. The power position, he said, would ease after that and the power cuts might be relaxed consequently.
He also informed the Industrialists that from tomorrow onwards, the industry can work on all nights in a week, but the weekly-off condition would thus remain only during day time, once in a week. Earlier, the off had been increased to 34 hours which included no work even during nights as well.
The delegation consisted of Hira Singh Gabharia, Cabinet Minister, Ajit Singh Kular, Avtar Singh, General Secretary CICU, Upkar Singh, Joint Secretary CICU, Ram Lubhaya, GS Kahlon, Subhash Lakra, RD Sharma, Kairon and Chairman Sugarfed.
From the PSEB side, BS Bath, Engineer and Randhawa and P S Gill, SEs operation, attended the meeting.
