Haryana, April 8: Despite Chief Minister Bansi Lal8217;s repeated assurance of round-the-clock supply of electricity to the people in Haryana, undeclared power cuts are a norm.
Even as the July deadline for regular power supply fixed by the state government approaches, the supply system has worsened to the extent that the industrial areas are facing trippings after every 10 minutes. Owners of industrial units at the Industrial Estate, Ambala Cantonment, complained that poor supply had hampered the auctioning of their units.
The HSIDC Estate Industrial Association president, D. C. Gupta, in a memorandum to Bansi Lal, has alleged that the Industrial Estate was being discriminated against by the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam in imposing the power cuts. He alleged that executive engineer operations V. B. Chauhan had told them that nothing could be done since the power cuts were imposed by the BBMB.
But the BBMB authorities denied this stating that the cuts were not imposed by them since their job was to monitor the supply made by the BBMB and cuts were effected by the HVPN itself. He questioned the regular supply to the Sadar Bazar, Ambala Cantonment, while bringing Industrial Estate under cuts lasting for longer periods. Gupta demanded an inquiry against the erring officers.
Even the students engaged in preparation for annual examinations are agitated over cuts during the night hours. The agitated hostlers from government polytechnic even came out of their rooms and blocked the traffic at Patiala Chock on GT Road for over an hour at midnight. The agitators complained of undeclared cuts and trippings.
The issue was also raised by local legislator Anil Vij with Bansi Lal when he met the latter at Chandigarh yesterday. He had complained that despite CM8217;s assurance, the consumers were hot getting regular supply these days though the summer season was yet to set in. It is learnt that the HVPN authorities here were feeding the higher authorities at headquarters of power supply without cuts. However, the HVPN officials claim that rotational cuts were being imposed from area to area here following intervention from the CM.
