MUMBAI, MARCH 30: Terribly light wind conditions and the Indians were the sufferers as they moved down several places. Ashim Mongia and Mahesh Ramachandran, who had won the first two races in the World Enterprise Class Sailing Championships at Saldanha Bay, South Africa, finished a poor ninth in the third race to slip to the second position overall.

The other Indian pair, National champions, Naresh Yadav and Girdharilal Yadav, were sixth today and from their overall position of fourth they slipped to seventh.

Today8217;s race was won by South African brothers, Pat and Peadar Mitchell. Surprisingly, it was the first race won by an SA pair in the history of this class of sailing in the World Championships.

The winds were so light that a 10.00 am start was delayed by more than five hours.

Mongia-Mahesh had all kinds of problems at the start with the Mitchells stealing a march and Llewellyn Vilojeon-Pete Rowley of South Africa following them. These two pairs rounded the first windward mark first and maintained their position throughout the race to come up trumps.

In the eight-race series, the sailors are allowed to discard their worst result.
