
PUNE, SEPT 7: The violation of the code of conduct spree continues unabated in the city and its rural outskirts as a total of ten cognizable cases were filed against various candidates and workers of different political parties on Sunday.
The Kothrud police filed a case against Patit Pavan Sanghatana PPS leaders Dilip Umbarkar, Vikram Marathe, Shirish Kulkarni, P K Kulkarni, Vikram Maludkar and corporator Ananta Bhoj after they took out a rally in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP candidate in Pune Lok Sabha constituency, Pradeep Rawat, in Karve Nagar area on Sunday evening.
A report forwarded to the State Chief Electoral Officer by the district collectorate officials said the rally, which was taken out without obtaining prior permission, comprised two autorickshaws, nine motorcycles, a jeep and 44 tempos. Over 700 persons had participated in the rally and the vehicular traffic was badly affected in the area, the report said.
A separate case was filed at Hadapsar police station after Rawat and BJP8217;s campaign in-charge in Pune Cantonment Assembly segment Vilas Raikar took out a rally without obtaining prior permission earlier in the morning. According to the district collectorate official8217;s report, a total of 28 vehicles participated in the rally.
Bund Garden police filed a case against autorickshaw driver Kishore Sayanna Akup and four others after they installed a loud-speaker on their autorickshaw without obtaining prior permission and canvassed for Shiv Sena candidate in Bhavani Peth Assembly constituency Deepak Paigude near the main branch of the State Bank of India.
Area officer for Bhavani Peth Assembly constituency Chandra Joglekar filed a complaint at Bund Garden police station after some banners supporting the candidate of Congress-RPI alliance Haji Nadaf were put up near Roshani Petrol Pump in Koregaon Park area.
The Bund Garden police filed a case against autorickshaw driver Vitthal Bhise after he installed a loud speaker on his autorickshaw without obtaining prior permission and canvassed for Paigude near Sajanabai Bhandari Highschool in Bhavani Peth. In the same area another autorickshaw driver Sandip Pawar was booked for similar crime and canvassed for Nadaf.
Vishrambaug police filed a case after banners supporting Congress candidate in Pune Lok Sabha constituency Mohan Joshi were put up on the railings along the footpath opposite Alka cinema hall without obtaining prior permission.
Cantonment police filed a case against Rajendra Girme after he installed a loudspeaker on a Tata Sumo without obtaining prior permission and campaigned for Congress party on the MG Road.
Separate cases were filed at Baramati police chowky when workers of Nationalist Congress Party and supporters of Independent candidate from Baramati Assembly segment Chandrarao Taware installed loudspeakers on jeeps without obtaining prior permission and canvassed in Baramati town.
