Keeping in mind the law and order situation in the two states, the Election Commission today drew up the detailed constituency-wise schedule for the three-phase Assembly elections in Bihar and Jharkhand.

The Commission had announced the dates for Assembly elections in Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand on December 17. It took the EC nearly 10 days to come up with the constituency-wise polling dates. ‘‘All relevant factors, including availability of Central paramilitary forces, was considered for fixing the polling schedule,’’ EC sources said.

Nearly 64 Assembly constituencies of Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Bhojpur, Buxor, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jahanabad, Gaya and Nawada districts in Bihar will go to polls in the first phase, that is February 3.

On February 15, 85 constituencies of the state in the districts of Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Begusarai, Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea, Kathihar, Munger, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura will go to polls. Ninety-three constituencies in Patna, Nalanda, West and East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi will go to polls on February 23.

Similarly, the first phase of elections in Jharkhand (on February 3) will be held in all the constituencies of Hazaribagh, Chatra, Giridhi, Latehar, Palamau and Garhwa.

In the next phase, polls will be conducted in East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chaibasa, Ranchi, Gumla, Simdega and Lohardagga. Polling in Sahebganj, Pakaur, Dumka, Deoghar, Godda, Bokaro and Dhanbad districts will follow next.
