
SHILLONG, JUNE 7: The political crisis in Meghalaya further deepened on Monday with two ministers resigning from the government in solidarity with the four dropped ministers who supported P A Sangma, leader of the newly formed Nationalist Congress Party NCP.
In their resignation letters to Chief Minister B B Lyngdoh, Irrigation Minister M Rava and Minister of State for Agriculture N D Marak said that they had to quit 8220;in solidarity with the dropped ministers8221;.
Rava said that in spite of their unconditional support to the Meghalaya Parliamentary Forum MPF coalition government 8220;four of my colleagues, belonging to the Meghalaya Congress Legislature Party, breakaway group of the Congress, had been outright dropped8221;.
Earlier on June 4, four ministers, three of Cabinet rank and a Minister of State, were dropped from the ministry for 8220;anti-party activity8221;.
The dropped ministers are: Minister for Community and Rural Development, Lotsing A Sangma, Minister for Mining and Geology A L Hitler, R Marak, Minister for Border Area Development Admiral K Sangma and Minister of State for PHE Brening K Sangma.
The dropped ministers were earlier expelled from the Congress.
