Man dies in roof cave-in at South Campus
A 25-year-old labourer was killed when the ceiling of a building under construction collapsed in the South Campus of Delhi University around 5 p.m. today. Eleven-year-old Malti and 23-year-old Mahesh were injured in the accident.

The three were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, where Ram Nath was declared dead on arrival. Mahesh8217;s condition is stated to be serious. According to the police, the labourers were working on the ground floor of a building in the bio-chemistry block when a portion of the ceiling fell on them. Malti was playing nearby when the accident occurred.

DU Registrar Prof K K Panda told Express Newsline, 8220;I will visit the site tomorrow morning and meet the injured as well. We will initiate an inquiry to verify the accident8217;s cause.8221; A case has been registered at the Nanakpura police post in the R.K. Puram police station area.

22-yr-old kills cousin after uncle says no to loan
A 22-year-old youth killed his cousin because the youth8217;s father refused to lend money to the accused. The police have arrested the accused.

The Kavinagar police received information early on Monday morning that a youth had been murdered in Chiranjeev Vihar. The father of the deceased named his nephew Satish as the suspect. A retired Central government employee Desraj lives in house no: 21 in Sector 5 of Chiranjeev Vihar. His nephew Satish, alias Lovely, had visited the house six months ago and had requested him for some financial help. Desraj had given him Rs 1,000 at that time.

Lovely, who has a tailoring shop in Ambala, went back to Desraj8217;s house again six days ago. He told his uncle that he needed Rs 30,000 . Desraj told him that he did not have that much money.

4-yr-old raped
A four-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by her father, in the Nangloi area of west Delhi yesterday morning. The accused has been arrested. According to the police, 35-year-old Ved Prakash came to his Kamruddin Nagar house yesterday at 11:45 am. He dragged his daughter along with him to his top floor room. A rickshaw puller, Ved was drunk at the time. Ved8217;s wife Shakuntala got alarmed when she did not hear her daughter8217;s voice for some time. She went to the top floor and saw the door to the room locked. However, she saw a window open and found her husband sexually assaulting his daughter. She raised an alarm which was heard by the neighbours. Police arrived on the scene and Prakash was nabbed. Shakuntala told police that on earlier occassions also, he had tried raping the daughter but was unsuccesful.

The couple lived as a tenant in the house along with three other tenants. The couple8217;s elder son is physically handicapped. In a separate case, a 13-year-old girl was raped in north-west Delhi by her cousin. According to the police, the victim is mentally challenged. The accused has been arrested.
