Three illicit liquor hauls
With the booze ban in effect for the past three days, the Delhi Police is trying to tighten control on all those trying to get illicit liquor into the city. Twenty-four bottles of country-made liquor were recovered from an Ambassador car (no. DL-6C-2417) at Singhu border, early today morning. Three persons, Ramamnand, Yashpal Singh and Suresh Yadav, were arrested by a PCR van in this regard and handed over to the Alipur police.

Seventy-nine cartons containing 3,792 quarters of whiskey were recovered by the Kanjhawala police from 24-year-old Rajbir and Om Bahadur at Garhi Randola. The two were travelling in a tempo (Tata 407). In a separate incident, the Sultanpuri police have recovered 492 quarters of Champion whiskey today morning. Reportedly, a PCR van chased a Maruti van (DL-4CC 5075) near M. R. Hospital, Karala, and intercepted the car.

The occupants, however, managed to escape.

Three persons arrested for attacking clerk
The Sultanpuri police have arrested three persons out of the four accused for attacking a Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC) on election duty in the area.

In an FIR registered by LDC Ved Kumar yesterday, Kumar had alleged that the four accused — Krishnan, Amarjeet, Surendra and Setti, all residents of Bhawana village, attacked him when he asked them for certain verifications. They allegedly roughed up Kumar and damaged the bonnet of his car when he was recording the rally on the camera as per the rules issued by the Election Commission. The accused were a part of the Congress rally that was coming from Bhawana towards Karala around 12.00 p.m. yesterday. The police today arrested 40-year-old Krishnan, 32-year-old Amarjeet and 25-year-old Surendra, while the fourth accused, Setti is said to be absconding.

Motorcycle, car recovered
A Police Control Room van patrolling in the Andheria Mor area recovered an abandoned Fiat car (DHA 8138). The car, which was reportedly stolen from the area of Police Station Kotla Mubarakpur, has been handed over the Mehrauli police. Another stolen motorcycle (no. DL-35J-2183) was found abandoned by a PCR van. The motorcyle was reportedly stolen on November 18.
