PATIALA, Oct 12: A new office building, housing separate windows and counters for public dealing on the premises of the district police complex, was inaugurated by IGP R.S. Gill here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Gill commended the initiative shown by Patiala SSP Harpreet Singh Sidhu, who conceived the project and arranged for completion of the double-storeyed building at a cost of mere Rs 8 lakh. The money for the project had been spent out of the welfare fund and the profit from the cooking gas agency being run at the Police Lines.

Gill lauded the services rendered by certain civil contractors of the city who had worked at the project without any profit motive and helped complete the project in a record period of two months and 20 days. Sidhu said five counters had been provided for receipt and disposal of complaints, processing of arms licences, information regarding criminal cases, passport service and other verifications and registration of foreigners and pensions, bills, etc.
