Poddar8217;s team qualifies

LILLE FRANCE, August 27: Mumbai8217;s Deepak Poddar8217;s team 8212; comprising besides himself VM Lal, Ram A Agarwal and A Vaidya 8212; was the only Indian squad to qualify for the round of 64 in the tenth World Bridge Championship8217;s Vivendi Rosenblum Cup Open at the Grand Palais here late last night.

Poddar8217;s team remained in contention right from day one day and qualified fourth in their group with a score of 247 victory points VPs.

The other 11 Indian teams maintained their lacklustre performance and failed to qualify from the round-robin. Patherphekar 253 and Shivdasani 245 finished fifth in their group, Kejriwal and Ruia finished sixth, Agarwala was ninth, Nadar tenth.
