Calling terrorism a grave concern for India, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday emphasised the need to stand together and sought help from all political parties in eliminating the menace from the country. He was speaking at an election rally here.

Stating that the Congress did not want to play politics with the Mumbai terror attacks, Singh urged the people to rise above religion, caste and language to combat the scourge. Singh addressed public meetings in Hanumangarh and Jaipur campaigning three days before the Assembly elections scheduled on December 4.

“We have to prove that we are Indians first and rise above religion, caste and language to fight terrorism. I promise you today that the UPA Government will not stop at anything to fight and end terrorism in India,” Singh said in Jaipur. He also appealed to all civilians and political parties to help the Central Government in this fight and to restore and maintain law and order.

Singh also spoke of the importance of people’s vote in the Assembly elections and appealed them to vote after carefully considering their candidate, while lauding schemes and the past four years of the UPA Government’s tenure. Terming the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP Government in Rajasthan as regressive, Singh said, “This BJP Government has not implemented several Central schemes meant for the people of Rajasthan.”
