Plantation damaged

SAS NAGAR, April 30: There were two minor fire incidents in the township today. In the first incident, a blaze occurred at the Punjab Government nursery opposite fire station of the township in Phase 1 Industrial Area. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. It was controlled within a span of 20 minutes. Some plantation was also damaged due to the blaze.

In the second incident, a fire broke out in the kabari dump adjacent to the wall of the cremation ground in Phase 7 Industrial Area here. According to fire officals, the cause of the fire was reportedly heat and the blaze was brought under control in about 2 hours. Two fire tenders were pressed into service, one each from SAS Nagar and Chandigarh. It was an unauthorised kabari dump and goods worth Rs 2 lakh were gutted in the blaze.

However, no loss of life and property was reported in the fires.
