Union Minister T Subbarami Reddy has a knack of rushing in where angels fear to tread. He made his voluntary contribution to the ongoing negotiations between the Left and the Congress by reaching the CPI headquarters unannounced last week while the party national secretariat was debating the issue. After exchanging pleasantries with the communist leaders, the minister presented the secretariat with an album each, full of his own pictures. One sequence showed him, dressed in saffron, posing in all the yogic contortions of the Suryanamaskar. For one thing, if he should ever want to be elected India’s President in the future, he would do well not to approach the CPI for support.
