Technological advances have been able to create things which one could just not imagine a few years back. In one of the first examples of ambient intelligence being put to commercial use, Dutch major Philips showcased 8216;mirror TV8217; at the consumer electronics fair called IFA here.
Mirror TV, the first product created at Royal Dutch Philips8217; research incubator for future electronic products and technologies called Homelab, is a mirror in the bathroom which can double up as LCD display screen enabling people to watch news, traffic updates and even cartoons while shaving or brushing their teeth in the morning. The company said Mirror TV uses a unique polarised mirror technology, which transfers close to 100 per cent of light through a reflective surface.
Besides Mirror TV, Philips also demonstrated other new technologies at the IFA including mediator technology for communication between consumer electronic devices, 8216;portable blue8217; for portable applications and the electronic ink display breakthrough.
