Mumbai, Feb 12: Hosts Poona Golf Club (PGC), with 16 points, forged ahead on the opening day of the fourth Grover Vineyards Inter-Club golf tournament at their 6,593-yard, par-71 course on Saturday.

Holders United Services Club were not far behind on 14 points, while Willingdon, for whom RK Pitamber displayed flashes of his form while partnering Akshay Kilachand and winning the four-ball, were in third place with 13 points. BPGC are fourth with 10.5 points.

HARKIRAT LEADS: The London-based Harkirat Singh, in India for a short visit, took time off to tame the golf course at the US Club and lead the pack of 250 golfers, on Saturday, the first day of the Chidakashi Valentine Open. On the distaff side, Sulakshana Chowgule, with a handicap of 25, came in with the highest score of 37.
