From healing touch in Kashmir to giving a human touch to politics, the PDP has planned a rally at Uri, the last major town on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road.

The rally coincides with the date on which Indian and Pakistan officials will hold talks regarding the road.

Party heavy weights, Finance Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, Housing and Urban Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir are likely to address the rally, which the party claims will help in bringing India and Pakistan closer and resolve the Kashmir crisis. ‘‘By organising the rally at the Uri, our endeavour is to convey leaders of both the nations that if the road will be thrown open it will not only give human politics a chance to thrive but will be the biggest confidence building measure as hundreds of families living on both sides of LoC can meet their loved ones,’’ said Beig.

He informed that from Baramulla town PDP workers will board buses and small vehicles and start marching towards Uri where senior leaders will address the rally. ‘‘We have only two days for the rally’s preparation but we are expecting a lot of participation,’’ said Beig.

The PDP leaders will also urge the Prime Minister to announce a ceasefire in the Valley. ‘‘We will remind PM Vajpayee to start new initiatives to resolve the Kashmir issue.’’ he said.
