Sara Ali Khan recently opened up about her bond with Amrita Singh, while expressing her admiration for her mother. “I don’t have any comfort zone. But that also comes from a very secure comfort zone that I come from. Because every film set is different. Every set’s vibe is different. I love travelling. I have studied in New York, then shot in Kedarnath. So as far as movement is concerned, I don’t have a restricted comfort zone,” the actor said.

Speaking about her mother, Sara told Mirchi Plus, “But I go home and hug Amrita Singh every day. That is my comfort zone, and it gives me the strength every day to tackle different things. Like Ganga flows from everywhere, but she starts at Gangotri, so is my mother (for me) .”

Drawing on her personal experiences, let’s explore how people, especially mothers, can be a source of comfort and support for their children.

A person can become a comfort zone by offering love, understanding, and a sense of safety to the child, affirmed Dr Santosh Bangar, senior consultant psychiatrist, Gleneagles Hospitals, Parel Mumbai.

For a child, this bond tends to form naturally with the mother. “A mother’s familiar voice and encouraging words create an environment where a child feels secure and accepted,” added Dr Bangar.

He mentioned that children often seek comfort from their parents. “Even small moments of connection in day-to-day life, like sharing a meal, baking your favourite desserts, hugs, or some nice conversation, can help support the child’s emotional well-being, while also allowing the parent to connect at a deeper level,” said Dr Bangar.

No matter the age, a parent’s, especially a mother’s, presence could offer assurance and support on a day-to-day basis, especially during testing times. “For every child, the mother is a comfort zone wherein one can share the problems, happiness, or any emotional difficulty,” said Dr Bangar.
