PUNE, Oct 4: The Pune Cantonment Board has decided to renew trade licences of Mauli Tea House, Cafe Mahanaaz, Prajapati Sweet Mart and Pasteur Ice cream subject to the condition that this does not weaken the board8217;s case against unauthorised construction. The parties have been in the line of fire for violating the cantonment building bylaws.

The civil area committee said that since these are old cases, the board may renew the licences. However, it also indicated that the renewal did not indicate in any way the regularisation of the unauthorised construction. The committee felt that the fate of the trade licence could be decided on the disposal of the case.

The board last year had decided not to renew trade licences in residential areas in a bid stop any further commercialisation in the cantonment areas.

The board decided against granting a liquor licence to Cafetarium owned by L.R. Bhojwani. The members also demanded to know the fate of House No. 2417, Volga Ice Creams. The board had informed the owners of Volga Ice Creams that the food items should not be prepared outside. However, the party sent a reply that it had not been doing so. The committee has, therefore, recommended the trade licence should be renewed on condition that no food items should be prepared outside.

The defence estates officer, Pune has already issued a notice to the party for unauthorisedly using the premises for commercial purposes. Removal action was initiated recently by the board against the unauthorised construction carried out in the premises. The elected members raised the issue of changing the name of the hotel at 1, MP Market from Hotel Oberoi to Hotel Nyab.
