PUNE, Sept1: Debunking the allegation that the Pune Cantonment Board had sent false8217; information to the Central Government on plot No. 1997, Convent Street, cantonment executive officer J. Sharma clarified that the board had recommended conversion of the entire 22,000 square feet plot at St. Anne8217;s High School into freehold only after considering the views of board members.
PCB vice-president Vinod Sanghvi had accused former CEO, R.S. Cheema, of informing the Defence Ministry that the PCB was not interested in acquiring the plot despite an offer from the Central Government without taking the members into confidence.
The board had resolved last week to acquire around 10,000 square feet from the plot currently in possession of Kumar Builders for setting up a scooter parking zone. The CEO said the Central Government had apprised the Delhi High Court with reference to the ongoing petition and this question had not been raised by the members till August 26. He said a tentative decision had been taken to carve out 3000 square feet from the premises. However, the use of the area cannot be suddenly decided owing to the petition pending in the Delhi High Court. He said due to the proceedings before the assistant labour commissioner, Pune, promotion or transfers of employees were not done.
